Staying at El Peregrino felt like a home away from home. Jose went above and beyond as a host. He arranged scooters and even joined us for cooking one night. The breathtaking view of Concepción Volcano from the second-floor communal area was a daily highlight, especially at sunset. The fresh coffee every morning was a nice touch too. The spacious rooms had comfortable beds and large bathrooms. I appreciated the filled water tubs for showers, especially since water can sometimes be scarce on the island. However, the kitchen lacked basic utensils. We found cooking there a bit tricky without proper tools. Also, the location, while peaceful, made it necessary to bring bug spray due to the mosquitoes. Despite a few bites, the beauty of the surroundings and the friendly pets made up for it.

Breathtaking view of Concepción Volcano from communal area.
Unfortunately, our stay was marred by a lack of communication regarding kitchen use after checkout. I was disappointed when I returned to the hotel in the afternoon, only to be told we couldn't cook, although it was previously discussed. This unexpected restriction dampened our experience and left us frustrated at the end of our otherwise enjoyable visit.

The stunning view of Volcan Concepcion was a daily highlight, especially during sunset. José went out of his way to ensure an unforgettable experience, organizing activities and making tasty French-inspired meals available. However, the kitchen lacked essential utensils, making cooking challenging, and transportation proved inconvenient without a scooter. Additionally, the prevalence of mosquitoes was bothersome, so be prepared with insect repellent.
